• SYRACUSE

  

  Our flagship store, HSOA Syracuse opened in 2005 and is our largest store. Owners Rick and Tom are both locals and each bring their areas of expertise to the business. Rick has been gardening hydroponically for over 10 years. Prior to opening the shop, he sold plant lighting and hydroponic supplies wholesale around the country to stores like his. He taught in the Syracuse City School District and still enjoys working with students of all ages, teaching about hydroponics and alternative gardening methods as well as alternative energy sources. Tom studied business at Oswego before joining Rick to found Hydroponic Shops of America.
  Amanda has been an avid gardener her entire life. Indoor and outdoor, ornamentals and veggies. Of her many useful skills is her knowledge of how to maximize your success propogating plants. Since hiring Amanda last year, she has used every nutrient in this store as well as pretty much every sample that has come through here in side by side tests.. If you have a problem with your plants that you are scratching your head over, and she can't get to the bottom of it, I'll eat my Airdale.
  We believe there is a greater potential for commercial hydroponic growing than is currently realized. Our focus in growing plants has been to maximize yield in the minimum amount of time, space and energy. We also believe that year-round growing in a controlled environment can be profitable through the use of alternative energy and hydroponic systems. We consult with local hydroponics farmers, such as Happy Bee Heirloom Farms.

• ITHACA

  

  We opened our Ithaca store in 2009, and Jon came on board in 2010. Native to Ithaca, Jon has over 20 years of hydroponics knowledge and experience to share with you. From designing low-cost systems to advising large-scale operations, Jon can help you save money and increase yields. In 2011, Adam, who has several years of experience growing indoors and with soil organically, came on board to help Jon in our busy Ithaca store. After receiving a BS degree from Elmira College and living in Northern California for a year he is back with some serious growing knowledge, especially in designing and building systems.
  Our Ithaca HSOA location is located across the street from Panera Bread and Petsmart in the Ithaca Shopping Plaza along with 5 Guys Burgers and Fries and Northside Wine & Spirits next door to Ling Ling Garden chinese restaurant. Look for the big HSOA sign. We offer great discounts on tons of stuff you use everyday in your garden. • ALBANY

  

  HSOA Albany was opened in 2010 due to special requests from customers who were driving hours to get to our other stores. Dan, who started out under the tutelage of Jon in Ithaca, moved out to Albany to run that store for us. Dan has been a gardener his entire life, and when he moved to the city to attend college, outdoor gardening was no longer an option, so he moved it inside and has been gardening indoors ever since. A self-proclaimed enigma, Dan won't speak in riddles when you talk to him about indoor gardening!
